Sales Price Calculator
Finding the real price of a promotion shouldn’t require a spreadsheet. This Sales Price Calculator helps you work out the final price per item—and your savings—across the most common sale types: percent off, fraction off (e.g., 1/3 off), and multi-buy deals such as 2 for 1. Pop in the figures you see on the tag and instantly compare which offer is truly the best value.
What the calculator does
- Percent-off sales – Enter the list price and the discount percentage. We compute the discounted price and your savings per item.
- Fraction-off sales – For promos like 1/4 off, enter the numerator (1) and denominator (4) plus the list price.
- Multi-buy (N-for-M) deals – For offers like 3 for 2 at $19.99 each, enter N=3, M=2, and the regular price. We return the effective price per item so you can compare apples to apples.
The results table highlights the lowest final price each, making it easy to see which promotion wins.
How to use it
- Choose a row that matches the store sign (percent off, fraction off, or multi-buy).
- Enter the label values: price, percent or fraction, and N-for-M counts where relevant.
- Click Calculate. The table shows final price per unit and savings per item for every row you filled in.
- Use Clear to reset. You can enter multiple deals at once to compare them side by side.
Behind the math (kept friendly)
- Percent offFinal price = List price × (1 − discount% ÷ 100)Savings each = List price − Final price
- Fraction off (N/D off)Final price = List price × (1 − N ÷ D)Savings each = List price × (N ÷ D)
- Multi-buy (N for M)Effective price each = Regular price × (M ÷ N)Savings each = Regular price − Effective price each
By converting everything to price per item, you can compare different promo types fairly—even when one sign says “30% off” and the next says “2 for 1.”
Quick example
A mug is $14.99 regular.
- 30% off → $14.99 × 0.70 = $10.49 each
- 1/3 off → $14.99 × (1 − 1/3) = $9.99 each
- 2 for 1 → $14.99 × (1 ÷ 2) = $7.50 each
The calculator would highlight $7.50 as the best price per mug.
Tips for smarter shopping
- Watch multi-buy limits. If you only need one item, some stores still require you to buy N to get the N-for-M price.
- Check stackability. Percent-off coupons sometimes apply after a sale price; sometimes before. If you’re allowed to stack, run a second pass with the combined discount.
- Mind sales tax and shipping. The calculator focuses on merchandise price. Add tax or delivery charges separately if you need the full out-the-door total.
Whether you’re comparing markdowns for your business or just hunting the best weekend deal, this Sales Price Calculator gives you clear, fast answers—so you can buy with confidence.
